Regenerating ecosystem

Todos al Agua allows coffee families to mitigate and adapt to climate change while improving their quality of life and management of natural resources. The project’s core strategy is community engagement. Every activity developed under the project’s four main pillars of water, forest, soil, and carbon, is developed and implemented together with producers and their family members.

Todos al Agua supports 11,631 people in implementing climate action and regenerative agricultural solutions.

COLOMBIA

In Anserma, Colombia, 550 farmers are part of Todos al Agua, with 150 now supplying their cherries to a cutting-edge eco-community wet mill.

HONDURAS

RGC expanded Todos al Agua into Honduras, initiating a collaborative project in the ‘Cacique Lempira Señor de Las Montañas’ Biosphere Reserve in Western Honduras involving carbon footprint management.

PERU

In Peru’s Amazonas Department, Todos al Agua has been actively working with five Coffee Cooperatives since 2020. Together, they are making significant strides in reforestation by planting native trees and ensuring sustainable soil management.

IMPACT
STRATEGY

In 2018, Todos al Agua started as a response to water scarcity and pollution identified by Anserma Cooperative farmers. RGC, along with industry partners, sought sustainable solutions for clean water access, health, and wellbeing. The success of the project in Colombia has led to its expansion in Peru and Honduras. The project works across 4 key areas of impact.

WATER

Water is a shared community resource, therefore it is important for everyone to practice good water saving techniques, especially  for larger farms that produce high volumes of wastewater and pulp, causing significant contamination to the local watershed.

FOREST

The work in this component includes encouraging sustainable land management practices that prevent further deforestation, such as protecting natural forest areas, creating buffer zones, and promoting responsible land use.

Soil

Soil conservation strategies will aim toward improving the overall structure and health of soils, with the goal of increasing soil organic matter and carbon sequestration.

CARBON

Using the Cool Farm Tool, 46 representative farms conducted its first carbon footprint measurement as part of climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.

ANSERMA WET MILL

One of the most recent and notable milestones for Todos al Agua, Anserma is the cooperative’s new Ecological Community Wet Mill. We are incredibly proud to have co-financed the construction of the technologically advanced, eco-wet mill as it represents an infrastructure investment that will support the short, medium, and long-term aspirations for families living in Anserma, as well as support the broader coffee community meet their sustainability goals.

BUSINESS CASE FOR REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE

As the effects of climate change intensify, coffee farming is becoming increasingly more challenging and unpredictable, threatening the short and long-term productivity and quality of coffee. Coffee growing depends upon stable and predictable environmental conditions. It is imperative to develop and implement solutions that not only offer immediate, short-term solutions, but work to secure the longevity and resiliency of our industry.
